Rock climbing

Lower Scout Crag, Gt Langdale
A 40-year-old man fell while climbing, ripping two pieces of protection on the way to hitting the ground. He sustained head, leg and arm injuries. An ambulance was initially called, but requested our assistance due to the location. The man was treated at the scene with spinal immobilisation, pain relief, his ankle was splinted and he was evacuated to the valley bottom for onward transfer to hospital by air ambulance.
